After All These Years is a kick-ass alternative country/blues act from Winnipeg, Manitoba. They have also recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee!

****
An album which slowly but surely builds up quality from the very off that seems to explode in the ears like a firecracker on the fourth of July.
Hailing from Winnipeg, Canada and full of the outrageousness that contemporary mainstream country music from Nashville seems to have run out of in recent years, this stunning release from this multi-splendid band which seems to kick you in the nether regions with this eleven track collection is one that shouldn’t be missed by those who like their music that sticks two fingers up to the establishment.
What has to be the best of the lot is Small Town Ways. Its lyrics have the power to transport you to another place in a different world; Kid Rock’s All Summer Long being a prime example of this with Small Town Ways certainly matching Rock’s version on more than one instance. Just like Rock’s track, the guitar efforts are quite something but here the stonking picking is provided by the band and not by Van Zant and co. With a country rock start to rival the classics of the genre (think Waylon Jennings but in a much bigger and increasingly stunning way) Put That Bottle Down is a track ideal for those who like the odd dram of whiskey. Its guitar playing is once again ace but it seems to really rev the band up here so much that it brings out the best in the rest of the group which really is a pleasure to hear. Last Train to Memphis can be best described as an escapist tune which many who have decided to strike out on their own away from their loved ones soon learn that their plan of starting a new life didn’t quite exactly turn out how they expected. After all, some of the best country songs have been based on such a topic and here I see no reason why this particular track couldn’t be put into this musical camp; a fine track if ever I’ve heard one.
This being their fourth album and with no UK dates planned, this latest release from a quite stunning band is one which really shouldn’t be missed. RH
